Tiger’s Eye is said to be created from quartz forming over existing bluish-grey crocidolite, replacing it entirely. During this process the iron within the crocidolite begins to stain and dissolve the quartz working to stain the stone, thus giving the stone its yellow and brown color, dawning the name “Tiger’s Eye.” Many times the process is left incomplete which can result in a stone with a bluish grey color with streaks of the usual brown and yellow. When Tiger’s Eye itself forms with Hematite of varying colors or with yellow Limonite, the resulting stone is read with brown/yellow overtones. These new stones are known as either Falcon’s Eye or Bull’s Eye.
